Hanlon School of Music (“HSM”, “we”, “us”) runs music lessons and programs in Miami, Queensland and Tweed Heads, New South Wales. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

What we collect

When you enquire, enrol or take part in our programs, we may collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address

  • your child’s name, age, instrument and lesson preferences

  • details you choose to share with us, such as preferred lesson times or anything that helps us teach your child well

  • payment and billing details, which are processed by our payment provider

  • photos and videos taken at lessons, performances and events, with your consent

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange a first lesson

  • schedule, teach and manage lessons

  • process payments

  • tell you about lessons, performances, events and programs at HSM

  • improve our services and our advertising

We will not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We use trusted services to run the school, and they handle some information on our behalf. These include:

  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), when you enquire through one of our ads

  • Square, for bookings and payments

  • Google, for email and record-keeping

  • Squarespace, for our website and enquiry forms

These providers may store information outside Australia. We only share what’s needed for them to provide their service.

We will only share your information with anyone else if you agree to it, or if the law requires us to.

Photos and videos

We record student performances and share some of them to celebrate our students. We will always ask for a parent’s or guardian’s consent before sharing a photo or video of a child, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Marketing

We may contact you about lessons, events and programs. You can opt out at any time by replying to any message or contacting us.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it, then delete it securely.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you or your child at any time. Contact us using the details below.
